Cairn’s report has some good information on key sites, including diagrams and maps to help investors understand their operations.
That said, it lacks a good business overview that guides the reader as to the relative sizes of the various businesses.
The corporate responsibility section provides a good overview of activities and has some clear metrics in relevant areas for employees, social investment and the environment. It also includes some information on external assurance of CR reporting and what CR means to Cairn. It is a good base level of corporate responsibility information but does lack a little compared to some of its peers in the sector.
Unfortunately, the report often strays towards jargon and technical acronyms without due explanation for the lay reader. Nor is there much indication of what Cairn Energy expects in the future. Strategic information is at an absolute minimum and there is limited discussion of the marketplace as well.

This is a fairly simple partial HTML report incorporating many of the images from the printed version. It has a few helpful twists – for instance, clicking on the graphs to see an enlarged view and a hyperlink to each of the board directors’ biographies from their pictures. The corporate governance section onwards is available as PDF downloads.
