GSK’s 2007 report and review focus on answering five questions about the business. The answers encompass information ranging from the business model and strategy, to the research and development pipeline and corporate responsibility issues – they meet a number of our criteria, while integrating the information as part of the wider business story.
Once these five questions have been answered, the report reverts to a similar approach to last year. As such, the level of strategic content and the marketplace discussion continue to be strong points. Covering regulatory issues, competition and the global economy, the pharmaceutical group’s market commentary is still one of the best we’ve seen. Overall, GSK’s reporting suite remains strong. But failure to move forwards in its weakest areas – a lack of non-financial data and risk management information – has allowed others to catch up.
Online
Only GSK’s review is available in HTML. It sits within the corporate
website and, therefore, links to other areas of the site are always present. However, little appears to have been done to make the most of the online environment – the presentation replicates the printed document and hyperlinks are at a minimum.
