Strategy

Six key performance indicators are identified in International Power’s report. A balance of three financial and three non-financial, the measures are graphed with previous years’ data, explained and commentary on progress in 2007 provided. It’s a fairly effective approach – and additional non-financial measures are provided in the corporate responsibility section. Indeed, the latter section highlights significant CR issues and outlines related initiatives. There’s also an attempt to integrate environmental issues within the regional reviews.

In contrast, information about employees is confined to a dedicated chapter within the governance section. Meanwhile, the group’s strategy is explained up front, but doesn’t appear to flow through the rest of the report.

Online
Many of the pages of International Power’s HTML report feature a lot of information and, as a result, are fairly text heavy. Fortunately, anchor links enable users to jump directly to the content that interests them, while clear navigation and a search facility help users to move around the report.
