Strengths:
Strategy
Business overview - although ‘at a glance’ appears late
Weaknesses:
Corporate responsibility information
Forward-looking information
Reckitt Benckiser’s reporting suite consists of a rather dry, text-based annual report and a brighter, image-led shareholders’ review. Both documents contain CEO Bart Becht’s statement, which includes information about the group’s strategy, and the review supports this with additional detail about how various aspects of the strategy have been implemented. The review also earns marks for its look at Reckitt Benckiser’s five divisions – featuring a profile of each division, contribution to net revenues, key brands and market position. It’s just a shame this doesn’t appear until the latter half of the document.
On the whole, narrative content across the report and review is limited. The lack of forward-looking information stands out in particular, but information about corporate responsibility and risk management is also sparse.
Online:
The approach Reckitt Benckiser adopts for its HTML annual review differs slightly from others in the sample, helping this bright review to stand out. With no side navigation, the report frequently uses half of the page for text, while presenting images, graphs and videos on the other half. It can seem like a lot of scrolling is required, but anchor links help in places.
