Non-financial KPIs
2007 marked 20 years since Rolls-Royce returned to the London Stock Exchange as a listed company. The chief executive’s review reflects this by describing the progress the group has made against its strategy over the past two decades. It also provides information about progress made over the past year and offers some information about the future.
The market outlook notes the common characteristics of the group’s four global markets, before discussing each of the markets in turn. Factors affecting growth are outlined and forecasts of demand provided – again, giving the report a forward-looking feel.
Rolls-Royce does a good job of specifying its KPIs and explaining why they’re important. Financial and non-financial KPIs are provided for each division, but data relating to employee and environmental issues is harder to find. The report would also benefit from a clearer breakdown of the business up front.
Online:
It’s easy to find your way around Rolls-Royce’s HTML report - its navigation is clear and straightforward and a flash introduction on the home page directs users to key content. However, the report lacks the functionality of some of its peers. For example, Excel spreadsheets are lacking.
