Strengths:
Risk management information Employees
Weaknesses:
Business overview Non-financial KPIs
Canadian data company Thomson merged with Reuters on 17 April 2008, to form the dual-listed Thomson Reuters. As a result, Reuters 2007 annual report takes a somewhat perfunctory approach.

That isn’t to say it’s without strengths. Risk management information, for example, is presented clearly in a table that shows key risks, impacts and mitigating actions – as well as cross-referencing to further information elsewhere in the report. Employees are also discussed in relative detail, including information about employee communications, talent and performance management and employee safety, and an employee engagement score is provided. Generally, however, non-financial data is limited in the report.

And, although financial KPIs are specified, definitions don’t appear until page 44. Perhaps unsurprisingly, forward-looking information is largely confined to a discussion of the new organisation. Here, a graphical overview of the business would be beneficial.
